  • Choosing Your Wedding Music

    wedding_entertainment

Choosing the right music for your wedding will not just heighten romance but also inspire guests to get down on the dance floor to live up your wedding. Here are few things that should be considered in finding the right tune for your wedding.

Firsthand knowledge is the first thing to be considered in choosing the right band or DJ for your wedding. If you have been to a wedding where the band kept the guests grooving all night long and you were having good time until the very last tune then you know which band to find Alternatively, you can ask your recently married friends which band or DJ they love.

The next thing on the list is the size of the room and your wedding crowd. An intimate space won’t fit a 22-piece orchestra, and a 3-piece combo may not cut it for 400 people.

The fees of reception music depend on the city, number of performers, day of the week, and time of day. A DJ generally costs less than a band. The more performers in your band, the higher the cost. You can also cut the cost by booking up to a new talented DJ or band year in advance. The sooner you make arrangements, the better your chances of having good price.

Bands and DJs are typically contracted for four or five hours, but your reception may last longer, consider booking them for more time up front. This will help you to cut the cost instead of spontaneously ask them to stay longer. The band or DJ may need to take a break during the celebration, so it is better to discuss up front how you’ll want to fill this time. A DJ can just throw on a compilation CD of your favorite music, or you may be able to coordinate the band’s break time with the toasts. It is also important to check with the venue manager if there is a time-of-day restriction on music or limits on noise levels.
