  • Wedding Season in Bali

    wedding-bali_2

“Rainy season is wedding season” this sentence is an ages-old Balinese saying on rainy season. For the Balinese rainy season is a good time for getting married, holding a wedding ceremony; it is the right time to get a partner to warm up the cold and lonely rainy night. But of course the need of getting a partner to warm you up during the rainy night is not the sole and main reason to dub the rainy season as wedding season.

Based on Balinese traditional calendar (the Caka Calendar), the fourth (Kapat / October) and fifth month (Kalima / November) of Caka year is the best time to perform a wedding ceremony so during these months there will be hundreds of wedding ceremony held all over the island. And by coincidence the rainy seasons usually starts in October so there will be many of wedding ceremonies held during the rainy seasons.
Though there is an understanding that a ceremony has to be held on an auspicious day which is determined based on the traditional calendar not on the season or the need of human but “the need of getting a partner to warm up the cold rainy seasons night” is always the favorite explanation given by Balinese to explain the multitude of wedding ceremonies which are occur during the rainy seasons.
